Recap and Takeaways: Gartner SymposiumBy James Wylie    24 November 2016      Events

Reflecting on my experience at Gartner Symposium Barcelona, I’m proud to have represented Corvil at a major trade show for senior IT leaders. It was an excellent opportunity to connect with the top players in the IT field, and liaise with those whose areas of expertise include technology, information, security, and business strategy.

From November 7-9, we had the opportunity to exhibit our enhanced ITOA and Security Analytics solutions. The Corvil crew on the ground – Donal O’Sullivan, Elaine Giblin, Mark Holden, Richard Gleeson and myself walked attendees through demos and showcased how Corvil can effectively safeguard digital business. Because the conference attracted a melting pot of senior business leaders and senior technologists, it was especially helpful to talk with attendees one-on-one and find out what is top of mind for them. At our booth, we had the opportunity to engage in a free-flowing discussions with top executives, who had cleared time in their normally busy schedules for a week of learning and discovery.

From these conversations, I gleaned that a major concern is the ability to deliver and assure critical business applications in ever-changing environments. Virtualisation, and particularly the cloud, present technology teams with visibility challenges and a sense of loss of control. In regard to these challenges, the Corvil sensor will be massively impactful in helping to address these concerns.

On Tuesday, I presented “Machine Time Analytics for IT Operations” on the Emerging Technologies stage, in which I demonstrated how Corvil’s approach can provide new insights into today's IT infrastructure and how IT Ops teams can safeguard the delivery and quickly troubleshoot real-time services such as VoIP and Citrix.

It was gratifying to see my presentation resonating with the audience, as several people came up for a chat after my session. My primary takeaway was that many still have significant blind spots and continue to experience performance issues with VoIP and particularly Citrix. The attendees I spoke to, realised that machine-time analytics would provide them with the necessary visibility to solve many of their ongoing problems.

Corvil safeguards business in a machine world. We see a future where all businesses trust digital machines to algorithmically conduct transactions on their behalf. For some businesses, this future is now.
