Cisco Live: Recaps and Takeaways

James Wylie reflects upon the highlights of CiscoLive Berlin - Improving efficiency of network operations

Cisco Live: Recaps and TakeawaysBy James Wylie    7 March 2017      Events

We’re still reflecting upon the success of Cisco Live last week. With five days devoted to keynotes, breakout sessions and labs, it’s no wonder the event draws thousands of engineers and technologists each year, eager to learn and discover new tech that can help them with current projects and challenges.

The Corvil team manned a booth in the World of Solutions Hall which drew a crowd each day, with games, giveaways and two demo stations. During the week we had numerous conversations with attendees who were fascinated to learn about Corvil and how our unique approach to IT Operations Visibility can help them improve transparency and reduce MTTR. Many of the people we talked to continue to have difficulty troubleshooting critical services or have experienced blind spots after moving to virtual or cloud / hybrid environments. The feedback from attendees was extremely positive and it really felt that Corvil stood apart from other vendors they had been talking to, in our ability to help assure business services and time-sensitive applications.

During the conference, I presented “The Open Network Analytics Platform,” which focused upon improving the efficiency of network operations. I delivered the presentation twice, and both times it resonated strongly with the audience, generating questions afterwards and conversations back at the booth. A key theme of the presentation explored the fact, that although though most organisations have a great many tools, IT Ops teams still struggle to effectively triage and resolve issues, with multiple toolsets often causing confusion rather than providing actionable answers. I explained how Corvil’s innovative approach can eradicate these blind spots, reduce MTTR and alleviate user dissatisfaction. By leveraging platforms such as Splunk with fully integrated Corvil Apps, it makes it easy for operations teams to quickly derive value from Corvil. By using a familiar interface that they are proficient in using, they can consume Corvil insights and quickly join the dots, transforming their effectiveness in triaging and resolving operational issues.

Thanks to all who stopped by Corvil’s booth to meet our team, and to everyone who attended my presentation. We look forward to seeing you at CiscoLive next year at the new venue in Barcelona!
