With Giga+ Release, Corvil Decouples Hardware and Software to Lower TCO

In February 2015, network data analytics vendor Corvil refreshed its solution portfolio with the “Giga+” release. As part of this product update, Corvil added a number of new features and capabilities, ranging from increased buffering to better accommodation of remote network data monitoring. But perhaps the greatest and broadest- reaching change is that with the Giga+ release, Corvil has decoupled its software from the underlying appliance hardware. Moving forward, the company will sell its physical appliances at cost and bundle that hardware with separately licensed software. Customers will be able to acquire and upgrade hardware and software independently, giving them more flexibility and savings opportunities. Furthermore, this move opens the door to a virtual appliance option for Corvil solutions, which is particularly important for organizations moving toward increasing their use of the external cloud providers as a part of their core infrastructure mix.
